Power outage on the Great Northern Highway caused by an animal

More than 1,000 PUC Services customers along the Great Northern Highway were without power following an animal encounter. According to a release, the outage began at 8:47 p.m. and lasted until 9:46 p.m., affecting 1,225 customers. The outage occurred along the Great Northern Road from Northern Avenue to the Third Line.

SUDBURY - Hydro One says thousands of customers in the Sudbury, Manitoulin Island and Elliot Lake areas experienced numerous power outages Sunday night. According to its website, there were 15 outages in the Sudbury area, affecting just over 5,000 customers. It is currently expected to be restored around 9:45 p.m. On Manitoulin Island, meanwhile, more than 15,000 customers are affected. According to the website, there are currently nine power outages. Electricity is expected to be restored by 10 p.m. There are also seven outages in Elliot Lake, affecting 296 customers. Hydro One said it expects power to be fully restored by 9:30 p.m. The outage was caused by torrential rains and strong wind gusts in the northeast region Sunday night. According to Hydro One, "the outage management tool will be updated every 10 minutes as information is received from the field.

A cold front brought high temperatures and moisture, causing puddles and heavy rainfall that led to flooding in some areas. According to Environment Canada, about 60 millimetres of rain fell in less than an hour. Strong wind gusts also hit Etobicoke, causing several trees to fall and power outages. According to Toronto Hydro, many homes and businesses were left in the dark at the height of the storm and the company is working to restore power. In particular, residents on Evans Road, Lakeshore, Brown's Line and Etobicoke Creek will be without power at least until Friday morning. Our employees are working as quickly and safely as possible to provide power to our remaining customers," the company wrote on Twitter. - It wrote on Twitter.
