Yellowknife region: power outage probably caused by lightning
According to NTPC spokesperson Doug Prendergast, the power outage was caused by a "lightning strike" on the transmission line at the Snare hydroelectric facility, affecting Yellowknife, Dettah and Behchoko. "Restoration is underway with support from Jackfish. Lightning is still present in the area and may continue to cause problems tonight," he added.

Major power outage of almost an hour in Sarawak, with double circuit tripping in Murum
A power outage caused by a double circuit trip on the 275kV Murum transmission line affected customers in several parts of Sarawak. The main areas affected according to the Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) statement were: Kuching, Sri Aman, Sarikei, Mukah, Sibu, Bintulu and parts of Miri. It added, "Restoration works started immediately and power supply was restored gradually in the affected areas, with almost full restoration by 10:30 pm."
